This course is designed to teach the fundamentals of muscle and joint mechanics, structure, and function. Muscle origin, insertion, and action as well as a knowledge of available movement at each joint of the body will be covered. Students will be able to locate and identify all major muscles of the body and have an understanding of how muscles and joints interact in bodily function. Additional topics will be: physics of movement (lever systems), strength to length potentials of muscle groups, potential sites of endangerment and related endangered structures, and synergistic antagonistic muscle concepts. Class format will combine lecture and hands on experiential work
